When it comes to camping, there are a lot of things that you need to consider. One of the most important is what type of shelter to bring. Tents come in all shapes and sizes, and there is definitely one out there that is perfect for you and your needs. But what is the best 1 man tent? In this guide, I will share a few of my favourites and also provide some guidance on how to find the right 1 man tent for you.
How to Choose the Right 1 Man Tent
When choosing a 1-man tent, it’s important to consider the size and weight of the tent. Some tents are very small and lightweight, while others are larger and heavier. It’s important to find a tent that will fit your needs and your pack size.
Another important consideration is whether the tent is waterproof. Many tents come with a rain fly that can be used to protect the tent from rain. It’s important to make sure the rain fly covers the entire tent, including the door.
Finally, consider the price of the tent. Some tents are very affordable, while others are more expensive. It’s important to find a tent that fits your budget without compromising on quality or features.
What Is the Best 1 Man Tent?
Considering all the factors mentioned above, the following are what I believe are the best 1 man tents on the market today.
1. Terra Nova Laser Competition 1 Person Tent
The Terra Nova laser competition 1 person tent is a great tent for those with a decent budget and looking for something that packs down small and will provide great protection in the wind and rain.
It has a high hydrostatic head rating for the fly and groundsheet, coming in at 3,000mm and 7,000mm respectively. It is also a 3 season tent, which means it can be used for most of the year and keep you warm.
At 1,590g is it one of the heavier one-man tents, but it is still a great choice for those after a tent for the long term.
2. Vango Nevis 100 1 Person Tent
The Vango Nevis 100 1 Man Tent is a great alternative to the more expensive tents on the market, coming in well under the £200 price mark.
For your money, you get a good size 1-man tent, with a very good hydrostatic head rating of 3,000mm and 6,000mm for the fly and groundsheet respectively.
It doesn’t pack down quite as small as other 1-man tents, but for the price this tent is a bit of a bargain.
3. MSR Carbon Reflex 1 Person Tent
The MSR Carbon Reflex 1 Person Tent is a great choice for those looking for a very lightweight 1-man tent. Weighing just 790g, this is one of the lightest 1-man tents on the market, weighing nearly half as much as other 1-man tents.
There are compromises with this tent though, with the hydrostatic head being low at around 1,200mm for both the ground sheet and fly.
If it is a light tent you are after though, this tent definitely delivers on that!
Are 1 Person Tents Worth It?
One man tents are a popular choice for solo campers or those wanting privacy. They are typically lighter than larger tents and take up less space inside. However, many people find that there is not much space inside a one-man tent, making it difficult to store gear or change clothes.
If you are looking for privacy though and you’re not as concerned about internal space, then a 1 person tent is definitely worth it.
Summary
So there you go, there are many great 1 man tents on the market today. It is important to consider your needs and preferences before making a purchase. Be sure to read reviews and compare features before settling on the perfect tent for you.
Happy camping!
